Sweating on your face and head: what can you do?

Of all forms of excessive sweating, facial sweating is perhaps the most visible, and therefore often the most uncomfortable. A bead of sweat on your forehead during a conversation, a flushed, damp face after light exertion, or make-up that simply won't stay put: it all happens exactly where everyone can see it.

Why does your face sweat faster than other body parts?

Your face and head have a relatively high density of sweat glands, similar to your hands and feet. In addition, your face is extra sensitive to temperature regulation: it is one of the first places your body releases heat, which explains why your face often reacts first to heat, exertion, or eating something spicy.

Just like with sweaty hands, emotion plays a big role here. Nervousness, shyness, or the tension of a social situation can quickly lead to a red, damp face in some people, which in turn can cause more self-consciousness and tension.
